The Downtown Boise Association and Capital City Development Corporation was proud to host Jazz on the Grove. Headlining the show were the Paul Tillotson Trio followed by Luther Hughes and the Cannonball Coltrane Project. The evening was a signature event in Fall for Boise, the two-month celebration of Boise’s arts and community.

Jazz on the Grove 2005 Update
Jazz on the Grove donates to American Red Cross & Gene Harris Endowment for Music Scholarship
(Boise, October 31 2005) The Downtown Boise Association announced today that $3,000 raised from “Jazz on the Grove” a signature event in Fall for Boise has been donated in equal amounts of $1,500 to the American Red Cross of Greater Idaho and the Gene Harris Endowment for Music Scholarship.
The event took place on the Grove Plaza Friday, September 9th with the Paul Tillotson Trio and Luther Hughes Cannonball Coltrane Project headlining the show. The evening is a signature event in “Fall for Boise”, the two-month celebration of Boise’s arts and community.
Co-title sponsors included KNIN-Channel 9 Television, Syringa Bank, and a number of other generous sponsors who contributed to the festivities. Jazz on the Grove is an opportunity to give thanks to our community for supporting and helping to maintain a thriving downtown area, and to raise awareness for music education. The 2006 event date is Friday, September 8th.
Luther Hughes and the Cannonball Coltrane Project
Luther Hughes has been the bassist for many Jazz greats over his 40 year career, including pianist, Horace Silver, singer Jack Jones and for thirty years was sideman to one of Jazz's greats, Gene Harris.
Luther has gone on to form his own group, The Cannonball Coltrane Project and is receiving rave reveiws from the Jazz community on his new his new CD. |

Paul Tillotson Trio
Paul Tillotson, a Boise native, has been playing the piano for 27 years, and was mentored by Gene Harris. Tillotson has been part of jazz festivals around the world. He is as dynamic in his playing as he is in his stage presence. His music is a joyful experience! |
