Annual Meeting - 2005

The "State of Downtown" 18th Annual Meeting took place on April 19 th, 2005 from 7:30 - 9am at the Grove Hotel. The event was hosted by Downtown Boise Association and co-presented by Capital City Development Corporation and the City of Boise.

The Keynote speaker was Larry Beasley, Co-Director of Planning and Director of Current Planning for the City of Vancouver, BC. The United Nations honored Mr. Beasley's work in 1996 as one of the "World's 100 best planning practices" and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada presented him the 2003 Medal of Excellence as "Advocate for Architecture".

The City of Vancouver's "Living First Strategy" created a new set of planning, zoning and development principles which have dramatically reshaped Vancouver's downtown into one of the world's most captivating city centers, where the urban and natural meet, and making it one of the most livable places in the world. Larry will share with Boise how the planning decisions made in Vancouver helped make it the great city it is.

In addition to an exciting keynote speaker, we teamed up with the Idaho Business Review to provide a "State of Downtown" publication. Click here to view the publication. [Warning: large file]
