Enjoy Wine and Art at First Thursday, December 6th

The Downtown Boise Association is excited to team up with the Idaho Wine Commission to bring Idaho Wineries and Downtown Art Galleries together to provide an opportunity for the public to taste fabulous Idaho wines and view beautiful art during First Thursday, December 6th in Downtown Boise.

From 5 to 9pm on Thursday December 6^th, the following wineries will provide complimentary samples of their wine and also have bottles available for sale to the public at Downtown Boise galleries.

Indian Creek Winery at Art Source Gallery – 1015 W. Main Street

“Body Art”: This month Art Source Gallery feature’s fine art jewelry from Rick Olmstead, Susan Shaffer, Jan Bensen and Donna Armstrong, Christmas music by "Four Shillings,"

Parma Ridge at Basement Gallery – 928 W. Main Street

'The 11th Annual Group X-Mas X-hibition'. This yearly retrospective group exhibition is very diverse and inspiring for all art enthusiasts. The exhibit consists of a varied range of fine art originals from the eclectic to the traditional.

Holiday Invitational: Many of the area’s favorite artists have created works with the idea of “gift giving” in mind, and seasonal works have been added to help the celebration, including a wide variety of wooden puzzle boxes and magnetic bracelets. Pend O’reille Winery at R.Grey Jewelry Gallery – 415 S. 8^th Street

Join R. Grey's annual Christmas Show featuring a variety of works by many artists.

First Thursday is a monthly event for the public to enjoy art, entertainment, dining and extended shopping hours Downtown Boise. A free trolley is provided from 5:30 – 9:30pm with ten easy stops throughout downtown. A map is available online at www.downtownboise.org.

City Santa will visit Macy’s downtown on First Thursday, December 6^th from 6-9pm. For a small donation, children may tell Santa their Christmas wishes and have their pictures taken with Santa in the sleigh in the front window of Macy’s. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

Alive After Five Summer Concert Series Starts Next Week - (click for content)

(May 31, 2007 – Boise, ID) This summer the Downtown Boise Alive After Five Summer Concert Series, Presented by PacificSource Health Plans (a new Downtown Boise business), celebrates 21 years of providing Boise with fun and music. The event takes place on the Grove Plaza downtown Boise, every Wednesday, 5 to 8pm from June 6^th through September 26^th. This free Summer Concert Series is a community favorite in downtown Boise and kicks off June 6^th.

The DBA is excited to offer an exciting new line up of bands on the Kokanee Stage for this season and include:

June 6: Will Bernard: Jazz/Groove

June 13: Patrick Sweany: Blues

June 20: Albino: 12-piece Afrobeat (horns, percussion, etc)

June 27: Moses Guest: "A Texas-based, Southern Rock band that has just enough Pop, Jazz, Funk, and Country"

July 11: The Motet: 'Fusing instrumental, indie-rock, and electronically textured improvisation"

July 18: Wayne Hancock: "Original blend of honky tonk, western swing, blues and big band that he calls "juke joint swing!"

July 25: Anne McCue: Australian singer/songwriter, rock (not too heavy, not too light, just real)

August 1: Intervision: A sophisticated assemblage of jazz & soul-infused rock

August 8: Dale Watson: Country (honed at Johnny's Cash's Tennessee mountain cabin!)

August 15: Freekbass: Funk

August 22: Sol Jibe: Sound comprised of acoustic rock, flamenco, and world-influenced rhythms

August 29: The Gourds: "A saucepan of slow roasts, they have conjured tempo's, tango's, waltzes, zydeco, old timey, and two step"

September 5: Greencards: Bluegrass

September 12: Scott Miller & the Commonwealth: Americana alt-country

September 19: Eilen Jewel: classic country/folk/swing (she's a Boise native!)

September 26: Final act to be announced: It's a surprise collaboration to celebrate the Record Exchange's 30th Anniversary!

Alive After Five is a downtown marquee event that attracts thousands to downtown throughout the summer.
